Be a Volunteer

Village Friends invites all residents of the Auburn-Opelika area who share our belief in our organization's mission to serve as volunteers. Volunteer-provided services are the key to keeping our members' annual fees affordable.

We need creative, committed, and passionate volunteers: people with time, people with enthusiasm, people with experience, and people with skills. Whether you are adept at forming personal relationships, excel at applying information technology, or enjoy carrying out essential administrative and office tasks, please consider becoming a Village Friends volunteer.

SOME OF THE BENEFITS VOLUNTEERS EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:
• Staying active (physically, mentally and socially)
• Connecting with others, and feeling part of community
• Putting talents, skills and capacities to good use
• Paying it forward, knowing that someday each of us will also need support

The application form and the five required ancillary forms are in PDF file format. If you are unable to retrieve the forms in this format, please indicate this in the "notes" field when you fill out “I’M INTERESTED IN BECOMING A VOLUNTEER" and the necessary forms will be mailed to you.

Mail all completed forms to VFVV, P.O. Box 314, Auburn, AL, 36831-0314.

Once your application and all properly completed supporting documentation have been received and reviewed, a personal interview will be conducted in order to better determine your qualifications, interests, and availability as well as to answer any questions you may have concerning VF. Training is carried out in a single session of 2-3 hours. For vetting, a VF representative will contact the references listed in your application, conduct a background check using the Alabama Criminal Justice System online database, and verify that your Alabama driver's license is current and that you have appropriate proof of current insurance if you have indicated an interest in providing transportation services to our subscribers. After you have been fully vetted, you will be notified and may then accept those volunteer service assignments that interest you and fit within your schedule.

Assistance can be just a phone call or e-mail away!
